Attestation of Documents & Legalization

Consulate General of Pakistan, Toronto, Canada attests and legalises a variety of documents. Requirements for Attestation and Legalisation of documents vary depending upon nationality of the executant and origin of the document. Please read the following information carefully before visiting the Consulate for attestation / legalisation of your documents.

General Requirements
  1. All documents issued from Pakistan must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad or its Camp Offices at Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar & Quetta..
  2. All Canadian documents must be attested by Global Affairs, Canada.
  3. All educational documents must be attested by HEC (Higher Education Commission) and subsequently by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad or its Camp Offices at Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta.

Power of Attorney

  1. Applicants planning to visit Attestation Office in Toronto need to book an appointment prior to their visit for Attestation / Legalisation of the documents.
  2. Executant has to visit Consulate personally and must sign the Power of Attorney in front of the concerned official.
  3. Original documents along with an additional set of photocopies.
  4. Original and valid Pakistani ID (Passport or CNIC / NICOP of the executants) as well as their photocopies.
  5. Copy of CNIC/NICOP/POC of the person (Attorney) to whom the Power of Attorney is being given.
  6. Two Passport size coloured photographs of the executant with white background taken within last three months.Photograph of the executant (person giving the power of attorney) must be pasted on the Power of Attorney beside his/her signature.
  7. Power of Attorney by a minor would only be attested on production of a Guardianship Certificate issued by a court.
  8. The Consulate General only attests signature(s) of the executant(s) and does not take any responsibility for the contents or authenticity of the contents of the Power of Attorney.

Fee

C$50 is charged for the first three (3) continuous pages of a single document. Subsequent additional pages are charged @ C$ 20 per page.Fee is non-refundable.

Note:

The applicants are required to pay consular fee through Debit Card at the relevant counter or Bank Draft in the name of the Consulate General of Pakistan.

Attestation of other Documents

I am a Pakistani or Dual National and have a valid Pakistani Passport or NADRA Card and document need to be attested is issued by me in my personal capacity (for example Power of Attorney or Authority Letter)
  1. Applicants planning to visit Attestation Office in Toronto need to book an appointment prior to their visit for Attestation / Legalisation of the documents.
  2. Personal appearance* of executant(s)
  3. Two (02) Passport size Photograph* of executant(s)
  4. Provision of each Executant’s original valid Pakistani passport or NADRA card along with its photocopy
  5. Unsigned original document(s) along with a complete set of photocopies of all the documents being submitted for Attestation / Legalisation
  6. Executant(s) will need to sign the document(s) in the presence of Consulate General of Pakistan Toronto's official
I am a Pakistani or Dual National and have a valid Pakistani Passport or NADRA Card and document need to be attested is an official or public document (for example Marriage Certificate or Birth Certificate)
  1. Applicants planning to visit Attestation Office in Toronto need to book an appointment prior to their visit for Attestation / Legalisation of the documents.
  2. Personal appearance* of executant(s)
  3. Attestation by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad or one of its Camp Offices if document is originating from Pakistan OR Attestation by Legalisation department of the Canadian Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) if document is originating from the Canada
  4. Provision of each Executant’s original valid Pakistani passport or NADRA card along with its photocopy
  5. Original document(s) along with a complete set of photocopies of all the documents being submitted for Attestation / Legalisation

Important Information

In case a document is being issued by more than one Executant, all should meet the criteria mentioned in relevant section

Death Certificate Attestation / Legalization Requirements
  • Death certificate issued in Canada must be attested from Canadian Legalization Department of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
  • NADRA card cancellation certificate from NADRA.

Commercial & Business Documents

  1. Applicants planning to visit Attestation Office in Toronto need to book an appointment prior to their visit for Attestation / Legalisation of the documents.
  2. Business/Commercial agreements or any other document on trade etc are required to be signed by the company executives and legalised by Foreign Commonwealth Development Office.
  3. Any legal document like Power of Attorney etc is required to be executed on Company’s letter head and legalised by Foreign Commonwealth Development Office thereafter procedure of Power of Attorney will be applied. Power of Attorneys, Agreement deeds and Authorization letter (Authority Letters) of all kinds either on stamp papers or Company’s letter head should have the personal appearance of the owner/M.D/C.E.O of the firm/Company/Business enterprise

  • Applicants need to submit their original and valid passport/CNIC/NICOP alongwith their copies.
Fee

Gift Undertaking

  • Applicants planning to visit Attestation Office in Toronto need to book an appointment prior to their visit for Attestation / Legalisation of the documents.
  • Completely filled in Gift Undertaking Form. Gift Undertaking Form.
  • Valid current Pakistani Passport and Canadian Passport (if held) and copies along with previous passport
  • Photocopy of Valid Computerized National Identity card (CNIC) or National identity Card for Overseas Pakistani (NICOP).
  • Two (02) photographs
  • Recipient -ID card/Passport copies attested.
  • Donor-ID Card/passport copies attested.
  • Fee:CAD$50/-

Attestation Fee

The consular fee of attestation of documents in the Consulate General of Pakistan Toronto has been revised w-e-f 1st January 2023 as per rates given below.

* In case of additional executants with reference to a Power of Attorney an additional fee of $20 per executor will be charged. Fee is non-refundable.
