Machine Readable Passports (MRP)

The Consulate General of Pakistan Toronto provides the following Machine Readable Passports (MRP) services:

Required Documents for Machine Readable Passport
For ages 18 & above
  1. Original Valid CNIC/NICOP with a photocopy. (married female applicants must have their marital status updated on their CNIC/NICOP/Smart ID before applying for passport)
  2. Previous Passport in original with photocopy of first 4 pages, (if issued).
  3. NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the concerned department in case of government, semi-government or autonomous body employees issued within last 90 days by their respective Ministries/Divisions/Departments.
  4. Valid status in Canada in original (Canadian Passport/ PR card/Work Permit/Study permit) along with its photocopy.
  5. In case of a Lost passport, an affidavit mentioning the previous passport number and duly attested by the Consulate General.
  6. Dual nationals while applying first time are advised to bring photocopies of parents’ CNIC/NICOP for verification by concerned agencies.
  7. Passport fee is payable in the Consulate through Debit card only.
For ages under 18 / Minor
  1. Original Child Registration Certificate (CRC/ Form"B") or FRC (Family Registration Certificate) or Smart Card with one photocopy. Minor age 10 and above are required to produce juvenile card/NICOP/CRC containing picture and biometric of the minor.
  2. Original valid CNICs or Passports of both Parents along with photocopies. (Reference: Passport Rules 2021)
  3. The Minor will be accompanied by either of his/her parents or legal guardian appointed by the court of law, along with the original valid CNIC/NICOP of the parent/guardian.
  4. In case one of the parent cannot accompany then the said parent must send a duly notarized consent letter to be produced at the time of passport application.
  5. In case parents are separated/divorced, bring custody papers granted by the Court of Law.
  6. In the case of a guardian, bring a guardianship certificate, issued by the court of law and the appointed Guardian will visit the Passport office personally with the minor, along with his/her original CNIC and its photocopy.
  7. Valid status in Canada in original (Canadian Passport/ PR card/Work Permit/Study permit) along with its photocopy.
  8. In case either of the parent is deceased, his/her original Death Certificate along with a photocopy.
  9. In case of a Lost passport, an affidavit by the accompanying parent duly attested by the Consulate General.
  10. Passport fee is payable in the Consulate General through Debit Card only.

Renewal of Passport
  • Under Passport & Visa Manual 2006, there is no restriction for renewal of passport before its expiry.
  • Passport having full validity of 5/10 years can be issued to the applicants even if existing passport has not completed its validity. However, a statement mentioning the reason for obtaining a new passport before its expiry will have to be given by the applicant.
  • The applicant can visit along with required documents for renewal of his/her passport. The existing passport will be returned to the applicant after taking necessary action.
Damaged Passport

Passport against damaged would be issued subject to submission of prescribed fee and production of required documents.

Exhausted Pages

If you are a frequent traveler and pages on your passport are exhausted, then you can apply for a fresh passport. You have the choice to choose 36 pages, 72 pages and 100 pages passport depending upon your requirement.

Change of Particulars
  • The applicant can apply for a passport to modify his/her name, father name, date of birth etc. Prior revision / modification in CNIC/NICOP is mandatory.
  • In case of doubt about the age of any applicant, the issuing authority may call documentary evidence such as birth certificate issued by municipalities or other local bodies, or matriculation certificate of recognized Universities or Boards.

Note: Cases of change of name, father name and date of birth altogether will be forwarded to Directorate General Immigration & Passports, Islamabad for approval.

How to Pay Fee ?

The applicants are encouraged to pay consular fee only through Debit Card or Bank Draft at relevant counter. Fee is non-refundable.

Collection / Delivery of MRP

Only the applicant themselves or blood relative of the applicant can collect passport on their behalf.

Following has to be produced at the time of collection:

  • Original Receipt (if the receipt is lost, the MRP will only be issued in person).
  • Previous passport
  • Handwritten authority letter from the applicant (if the applicant is unable to come).
Collection By Mail:

Applicant can provide pre-paid self addressed registered Canada Post envelope at his/her own risk at the time of submission to enable the Consulate to mail his/her passport.

Yes, Machine Readable Passport system uses the data from NADRA's system and application can only processed if applicant has a valid original Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) or National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) or Smart ID Card. Only exception is the children having Computerized Child Registration Certificate (CRC/Form B) issued by NADRA from Pakistan.
